Digital Age Learning Environments

This standard addressed the need for technology coaches to create and support effective digital age learning environments. These learning environments contribute to the learning of all students and create a greater sense of meaning for the content. In my professional role, this standard highlights the importance of understanding digital age learning environments and creating learning opportunities that best support my learners. Several of the projects I completed for this cohort included opportunities to demonstrate skills aligned with this standard.

INSTTECH 6232 Selecting and Integrating Instructional Technologies

Artifact: The Lancer Look

How This Meets the Standard:

C.3.d. Select, evaluate, and facilitate the use of adaptive and assistive technologies to support student learning

C.3.g. Use digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers, and the larger community.

Using UDL approaches to learning, adaptive and assistive technologies are integrated into this project to support student learning. There are multiple means of sharing information and demonstrating understanding for both teachers and students. Students also have the opportunity to participate in pieces of the learning experience that fit their interests and make learning most comfortable. We utilize several digital communication and collaboration tools within this project such as Trello, InVision, Wake, and Figma. These tools allow the students to collaborate outside of the classroom with each other and with partnering schools on design projects.

Each of the standards within Digital Age Learning Environments was met by the creation of an online course. This project allowed me to integrate assessments, learner opportunities, assignments, and facilitate collaboration and discussion within a real-world format. Additionally, this project required me to troubleshoot software to obtain the results I wanted within my online course, and maintain a variety of technologies to better support the learner experience.
