Professional Development and Program Evaluation

Professional development and program evaulation indicators focus on the importance of using assessments to guide technology-intergrated professional learning opporunties. To me, this standard is all about evaulation and assessment of technology-integrated approaches. In my professional practice, this standard helps me understand how to effectively evaulate technologies that are being used in learning situations and adjust these approaches as necessary. While some of the courses touched on this, I felt that only one course adequately addressed this standard.

INSTTECH 6240 Understanding Instructional Design

Artifact: Understanding by Design Framework

How This Meets the Standard:

C.4.a. Conduct needs assessments to inform the content and delivery of technology-related professional learning programs that result in a positive impact on student learning

C.4.b. Design, develop, and implement technology rich professional learning programs that model principles of adult learning and promote digital age best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment.

C.4.c. Evaluate results of professional learning programs to determine the effectiveness on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning

This project explores a unit that changes the way teachers/trainers think about instructional design. By using a new method to create learning activities, I am contributing to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the family support (teaching) profession. These indicators are met by the creation of a self-assessment and planning agenda to ensure student needs are the center of technology integration. Additionally, a thorough assessment process is provided, which includes adjustment of content and learning environments based on student needs. This project utilizes both formative and summative assessments to ensure knowledge acquisition, meaning-making, and transfer goals.
